Yesterday was a complete write-off, a migraine had me in its clutches from morning until well into the night. It's amazing to me that after spending all that time napping or attempting to nap, my eyes resisted opening this morning. So I'm _still_ playing catch-up in the art challenge. This is for 'trying something new; getting a cutie mark'. So this is a 2 fer 1. Neighberry getting her cutie mark. Accidentally swallowing green bottle flies is now her special talent.

This combines "learning a new skill" with the alt-NATG "beach" prompt. Blucifer is a gigantic statue outside of Denver airport in Colorado. Blucifer is anatomically correct where it counts, so naturally a My Little Blucifer is hilarious. I was going to have Princess Celestia (with Princess Luna) as the pony admiring the view, but I couldn't get her drawn right. I decided to give Blucifer dreads, but perhaps spikes held up with gel would have been more apropos.

Well, since I was ahead of the game in this art challenge thing, I was mulling over translating "hobby" as a pony eating grass in an emulation of a Joe Camel advert. But 'pony drawing a human' as a hobby was suggested to me and I got to thinking. So here we are, a pony getting humans wrong as a comment on people drawing ponies as bipedal amputee cats. Ha!

With Calpain whispering into the ear of our prompt master, we got saddled with a pair of idioms that have no business in a drawing challenge: jumping to conclusions and a leap of faith. Faced with the options of drawing a pony jumping a moat to reach the town of Conclusions or drawing Faith plummeting to her death, Faith was easier. I did most of the pencil work on time but it was only today that I finished it up. The submitter for day 6 is still open for a few more hours, so, success! Challenge met.



And presto! Yakutian snow pony chilling in the snow, where it's chilly. Since chilling = resting and thus doesn't require props like an ice box or chili or bubble gum or such the like, I went with that. It was the lesser of two weevils. I chose a Yakutian snow pony, for emphasis. Alas, snow is not easy to draw.
